James Cubitt Architects participated in the competition for the design of what was supposed to be the new Guinness Head Office in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
We won this architectural competition, but the client later decided to have their existing office remodeled, instead of going on with the new construction.
However, the winning design incorporated Diageo’s very modern views on their work philosophy, offering staff many different environments within which to work, from formal arrays of workstations to coffee bar areas and break-out spaces to the Guinness bar stocked with all their products. This makes for a very exciting workplace and we hope to be able to interpret this philosophy in the conversion of the existing office building at their plant in Ogba, for which we have been commissioned in August 2018.
