It will not be farfetched to say James Cubitt was a part of this project from the very beginning. Walking the hills of Nsukka in the 1950s, the late sage, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and the man, James Cubitt, selected the site for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The first master plan prepared by James Cubitt Architects gave birth to the structure of UNN, Nsukka as we see it today and it was followed by four further JCA master plans.

JCA’s three major buildings at UNN are the Faculty of Physical Science and the Department of Mathematics, the Library and the Faculty of Arts. It is worthy of note that at the time, the library was the biggest in Sub-Saharan Africa.
