Following the establishment of JAMES CUBITT ARCHITECTS (JCA) in West Africa by the London practice in Ghana, economic circumstances in Ghana led to the relocation of the practice to Nigeria in 1957 and JCA has been based in Lagos continuously since that time. JCA has recently been registered in Ghana, once again, this time by the Lagos practice. JCA is part of a worldwide affiliation of practices of the same name, located in the Middle East in Libya, Doha, Abu-Dhabi, Kuwait, Dubai, Cairo, in Brisbane, in Australia, in Lagos, Nigeria and in Accra, Ghana.
In our first period in Ghana we were engaged in a number of master planning projects, majorly for educational institutions, some of which were the design of the
College of Technology in Kumasi,
alongside designing of major faculty buildings, laboratories and classrooms for the
- Universities of Ife,
- University of Nsukka
- University of Jos
- University of Lagos and most recently
- Funai University
